July 10, 2010 Notes

It has been an extremely dry summer to date.  We had a little rain today for the first time in weeks, but I think it evaporated before it hit the ground.  We've been experiencing a heat wave with wicked humidity.  The animals hang out daily under the trees, the pond has gone down quite a bit, the chickens aren't really laying eggs as well as they were in the spring, the garden is doing well but we have to water it daily.  We will be painting the doors this weekend.  James has been working on making a "roadway" around the perimeter of our property out back and we'll be working towards turning that section into pasture FOR THE REST OF OUR DAYS.  More to come...
